I had been a customer for NI (NetIdentity), the email service, for many years. I did find the concept a great idea. The service was never fantastic, but it worked fine for me. When I started back in 1998 the fee was $5.00 a year, fair price for a share domain, also come with website. On July 2007 the fee is about $107.95 for one year. Hey gays! are we getting to greedy?

From $5 to over $100 is this the way to run a good business? To Offer less, and overcharge your customers? I wanted to leave 3 years ago, I saw it coming when they started to ask fees for the web service. But, I throught the price will level up and everybody will be happy. How wrong I was! Now, they are going to far.
Just after one months I paid my last year fee (for the email service), I notice I could not log in with Outlook Express, what could be the problem? Check the password, everything was correct, so I wrote to them. This is what I got back:

It appears that your account is a webmail only account. If you would like to be able to download your mail into (outlook/Eudora/Etc) You will need to upgrade your account. If you wish to upgrade your account with POP/IMAP access you will need to do the following:

Sign into netidentity.com

Click on [Add/Renew Services]

Click on [Continue]

Check off the box beside [Upgrade to Email - POP/IMAP 1GB ($10/Year)]

Also change the drop down menu in the top right corner from saying [add 1 year] to [no extra years]

Follow the prompts as they appear.

Once you are finished the changes will take effect immediately and you will be able to configure (outlook/Eudora/Etc) in order to download your mail.

The premium email upgrade is the option that allows for POP/IMAP access. This allows your external email client such as Outlook to be able to download email to your computer. Without the Premium email upgrade you will still have access to the webmail interface which will let you check your email from any computer via the web. If you use Outlook or a program like it to download your email you will definitely want to add or renew the Premium email upgrade ( upgrade to email). I hope this information helps.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Webmail? Upgrade? Is this a joke? They change the service and never inform me, so when I renew, my service, I presume I'm doing just that, renewing, and not UPDATING. Now they invented some new skim to charge even more. Is this ethical? Is this business ethics? or just a cheap trick? I call it reverie, deceitful play and black mail. I business run in this way can not last too long.
